The Lost Elms is out!

My new book, The Lost Elms, has been published by Wildfire. It's a lovely-looking book and I'm very proud of it. My first venture into creative non-fiction since Paper Trails, back in 2009, this is a highly personal book, but it's also densely researched with chapters on the trees' ecology, practical and historical uses of elm wood and fibre, plus folklore, art and literature associated with the trees. The book takes a global perspective on all elm species and delves deeply into the threats to elms from Dutch elm disease all around the world, but it's ultimately a story of hope, based on our very local experience here in Assynt, where elm trees are still thriving.
There's an ebook and audio book available and all good bookshops will be able to get it in, if they don't have it on the shelves, or if you'd like a signed copy posted directly to you from me, you can buy it right here: The Lost Elms.
