Contract!

by Mandy Haggith - 19:32 on 29 April 2017

Tomorrow night is Beltane, and I'll be celebrating with a fire as always, but this year with a special zeal as today I signed a contract with Saraband Books for the publication of Stone Stories, my historical novel trilogy!

The trilogy is set, as regular readers no doubt know, in the Iron Age. It is based around by the amazing journey of Pytheas of Massalia, the first mediterranean to circumnavigate around Britain and go back and tell the Greek empire all about us.

I want to give a huge thanks to everyone who has supported me in the process of writing these books. A particular shout out to Margaret Elphinstone, who has been my writing buddy and mentor, and to Jane Alexander and John Bolland who have been encouraging pals and critical readers. A grant from Creative Scotland enabled me to take time out of work in 2015, when I did the bulk of the writing. Most recently, the Society of Authors helped me through the process of negotiating the contract - I cannot recommend them highly enough. And of course Bill, my Dad, and my sister and Mark have all been there for me through it all. Thanks everyone.

The first volume should be rolling off the presses before the end of this year.
